A tragic incident unfolded in Virginia as a teenager was fatally shot by a homeowner while filming TikTok prank videos with friends. The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting occurred during a "ding dong ditch" prank, leading to the death of 18-year-old Michael Bosworth Jr.

Authorities received a call about a residential burglary in progress, which resulted in the arrest of Tyler Chase Butler, 27, on charges of second-degree murder. The victim's friends explained that they were filming TikTok videos of the prank when the shooting took place.

The friends disclosed that they were knocking on doors as part of the prank, a game where individuals run away after knocking, but were shot at while attempting to hide. Bosworth tragically succumbed to his injuries, while another individual sustained minor injuries.
Butler is facing charges of second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in a felony. The community mourns the loss of Bosworth, a senior at Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg.
Principal William Lancaster expressed condolences and offered support to students during this challenging time. The case is set for a preliminary hearing on June 18, as the investigation continues.
