The top six teams include Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. Ohio State faces challenges in rebuilding both lines and settling the quarterback competition between Lincoln Kienholz and Julian Sayin.

LSU, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Illinois, and Tennessee round out the top 12. Illinois, with one of the most experienced rosters, is poised for a playoff run.

COACHES RANKINGS: SEC  | Big Ten | Big 12 | ACC

LOOKING AHEAD: Big Ten leads too-early Top 25 after spring

The Big Ten and SEC dominate the Top 25, with a total of 11 of the top 15 teams and 13 of the top 21 teams hailing from these power conferences.

Teams expected to rise in the re-rank include TCU, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Auburn. Florida State, Kansas, and UCLA are also predicted to perform well this season.

Kent State remains at the bottom of the Bowl Subdivision after a winless season and a coaching change. Delaware and Missouri State join Conference USA but are ineligible for the conference championship or postseason as they transition from the Championship Subdivision.
