Mikaela Shiffrin is embarking on a new venture in the world of sports.

The accomplished two-time Olympic gold medalist and record-holder for World Cup victories in Alpine skiing has joined the ownership group for the NWSL's upcoming team in Denver. The team, set to debut next season, is yet to be named.

In a statement, Shiffrin, hailing from Vail, Colorado, expressed her excitement about being part of Denver NWSL's ownership group. She stated, "I'm beyond thrilled to join the ownership group of Denver NWSL and support something so meaningful in the community I call home. The sport culture in Colorado is rich and deep, and - most notably - the growth of women's sports is one of the most exciting movements in our culture today."
The Denver team is primarily owned by Rob Cohen and has revealed plans for its own stadium, the second one specifically constructed for a women's team after the Kansas City Current's CPKC Stadium. Additionally, the team is in the process of developing a training facility in suburban Centennial, where games will be played until the permanent stadium is completed.
Shiffrin joins a list of prominent athletes investing in NWSL teams. Tennis stars Naomi Osaka and Ons Jabeur are part-owners of the Carolina Courage, while Kevin Durant, Eli Manning, and Sue Bird are investors in Gotham FC.
