A plea from a parent of two boys to our country's leaders: Please stop interfering with my efforts to raise my kids into respectful, empathetic individuals.

Despite challenges, I rely on resources like PBS, grandparents, and schools to instill positive values in my children. But the toxic political climate makes it difficult, with attacks on vulnerable groups like transgender kids and immigrants.
I strive to counteract negative rhetoric by highlighting leaders who have shown integrity in the past, such as George Wallace admitting his mistakes and John McCain defending his opponent. But I'm still searching for the best approach to discussing politics with children.
