Israel has requested international aid to combat the fires, with the defense minister declaring a national emergency.

The fires have resulted in the closure of Route 1, the main road connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Israel's Memorial Day.

Social media videos show people walking along the highway surrounded by thick smoke.

The fires are active on multiple fronts, with one area centered around the town of Neve Shalom, about 15 miles west of Jerusalem. Flames can be seen next to the road in one video, near a crowded section of highway.

Authorities have evacuated at least six communities in the affected area. Israel is seeking international assistance to combat the fires.

"We are facing a national emergency, and all resources must be utilized to save lives and control the fires," stated Defense Minister Israel Katz on Wednesday.

Israel's Fire and Rescue Services reported that around 120 teams, along with 12 firefighting aircraft and helicopters, are battling the blaze.

Shamir Medical Center has treated seven individuals in its emergency room due to the fire. One is in moderate condition, while the others are in mild condition.

This fire is in a location similar to a previous blaze that occurred last week.
